This series of paintings and drawings investigates how early Euro-American history painters imagined the story of early American identity. Centered on my own complicated Euro-Muscogee (Creek) ancestry originating in the Deep South, the work navigates the grey areas of identity through mythological portraiture. By blending traditional drawing and painting techniques with Indigenous sub-narratives, the imagery directly engages with the visual culture of pre- and post-revolutionary America.
